UK TRAVEL TEST REQUIREMENTS 

Strict rules on testing and quarantine are in place as set out by the UK government classifying countries as non-red and red countries. You will need to follow different regulations depending on the country you are returning from as well as your age, residential status and vaccination station. 

These restrictions apply to England, Scotland and Wales.

Returning from a Non-red Country
Fully vaccinated and children aged 5 – 17 from approved vaccine country
  • Day 2 PCR Test performed on day 0 – 2 after arrival in the United Kingdom
  • Passenger Locator Form with Day 2 URN number
  • Proof of vaccination status
Unvaccinated and children aged 5 – 17 resident in a country without vaccine approval
  • Pre-departure Rapid Antigen Test 3 days prior to arriving in the UK (age 11 or above)
  • Day 2 and Day 8 PCR Test
  • Passenger Locator Form 48 hours prior to arrival in UK.
  • Quarantine at home or in place for 10 days
  • Day 5 Test-to-release (Optional)
Returning from a Red Country
Fully Vaccinated and
Children aged 5 – 18
  • Pre-departure Rapid Antigen Test (72 hours prior to arriving in the UK.
  • Quarantine Hotel
  • Day 2 and day 8 PCR Test
  • Passenger Locator Form
Unvaccinated
Travellers
  • Pre-departure Rapid Antigen Test (72 hours prior to arriving in the UK)
  • Quarantine Hotel
  • Day 2 and Day 8 PCR Test
  • Passenger Locator Form

Note of Vaccinations:

Fully vaccinated means that have completed a course of an approved vaccine at least 14 days prior to arrival in England. The vaccinate must be administered under either:

  • the UK vaccinated programme
  • an overseas vaccination programme with an approved proof of vaccination for travel to the UK. You can find out more about which countries have approved vaccination programmes here.
